Give yourself a small starting list
You do not have to turn a museum visit into a checklist of everything in the building. My video picks three different parts of the experience: a gallery, an architectural-scale object, and a stop for museum gifts.
- Ceramics Gallery: the first stop in the video. Start here if ceramics are what drew you to the clip.
- Ten-Story Pagoda: the tall pagoda shown inside the museum. It is a different way to experience the collection from looking at individual objects in display cases.
- Museum shop: the final stop in the video. Browse after your galleries so shopping does not become the whole visit.
Is admission free?
The museum’s official visitor information lists free admission to the permanent exhibition halls. Charges apply to some special exhibitions. Check the specific exhibition you want to see before assuming that every ticket is free.
What should you check before leaving?
- The day’s opening hours and last entry. The museum has different hours on some weekdays and publishes closure dates.
- Special exhibitions. A temporary exhibition can have its own admission and access arrangements.
- Your route. The official address is 137 Seobinggo-ro, Yongsan-gu, Seoul. Use it to check travel from your actual hotel.
A calmer part of your Seoul itinerary
Use the museum as one main activity rather than squeezing it between several distant neighbourhoods. You can decide how much of the collection to see once you know your interests and energy level.
The video is an introduction to three stops, not an exhaustive museum tour. For the full collection and current exhibitions, use the museum’s own website.
